Role: Nuclear Programme Associate or Senior Programme Associate
We seek a Programme Associate to support our work in nuclear weapons risk reduction and the revitalisation of the nuclear philanthropic field. This role will work alongside the Programme Director (Carl) and Programme Officer (Matthew) to facilitate worldclass grantmaking and donor communications. This includes supporting grant investigations, tracking communications and deadlines within the team, and proposing process improvements.
Location: Washington D.C., strongly preferred. Matthew is based in D.C. and we’d expect this role to co-work in a D.C coworking office Longview provides. We may be able to sponsor a visa for this role and we offer relocation support.
Salary: Programme Associate: $90,000 - ~$105,000
Senior Programme Associate: $105,000 - $125,000

Responsibilities
Nuclear grant investigations
- Build and maintain key relationships with experts and stakeholders in the nuclear weapons policy field. This will involve regularly attending meetings in DC.
- Prepare for and hold meetings with grantees and prospective grantees.
- Research relevant topics for grant investigations.
- Manage external contractors who research topics to support grant investigations
- Conduct in-depth grant investigations.
- Conduct grantee check-ins, monitor grants, and review grants for renewal decisions.
Project management and process improvements
We are seeking a very strong project manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining efficiency and organization within the Nuclear Grantmaking team.
- Maintain the nuclear team's grant investigation pipeline. Including keeping our CRM and relevant spreadsheets up to date
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement such improvements
- Ensure timely communications with grantees (e.g. provide timely updates on grant status; share relevant strategic updates)
- Liaise with our Head of Grant Management & Compliance Andrew Player and incoming Grants & Compliance Manager to ensure efficient processing of nuclear grants
- Ensure timely communications with donors (e.g. assist in preparing communications about our nuclear work for major donors)
This position will be managed by Carl Robichaud, Longview’s Nuclear Programme Director.
Ideal candidate profile
The ideal candidate will be:
- An experienced and strong project manager.
- Someone with experience (2+ years) in national or international security policy.
- Knowledgeable about nuclear weapons policy and the Washington, DC-based nuclear weapons policy ecosystem of experts, staffers, think tanks, and other NGOs.
- Highly professional, representing Longview effectively in D.C. and engaging with key stakeholders, including experts and grantees.
- Skilled at research, data management, and systems implementation.
- Self- directed, able to take initiative and responsibility for projects.
- Reliable in delivering high-quality work on time and to exacting standards.
- Highly collaborative and willing to pitch in wherever needed.
- Able to manage sensitive information and communications with discretion.
- Comfort with giving and receiving direct feedback in the pursuit of excellence.

Application Process
- First stage: Application form & [20-min] screening test
- Second stage: First interview (20 minutes)
- Third stage: Work test 1 (2 hours)
- We will pay candidates $200 for completing this stage.
- Anyone doing a paid work task must have the relevant right to work in the place where they are doing the work.
- Fourth stage: Work test 2 (24 hours)
- Candidates will have 24 hours to complete a shallow grant investigation or similar research project. We expect ~8 hours of work in this time window.
- We will pay candidates $800 for completing this stage.
- Anyone doing a paid work task must have the relevant right to work in the place where they are doing the work.
- Fifth stage: Final interview (1 hour) and reference checks

- Sixth stage: In-person 2-5 day work trial
- We recognise an in-person trial is a significant commitment. An honorarium will be provided to all candidates who complete a work trial and travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.
- For those with the right to work in the US this will be an in-person work trial. For those without the right to work, this will be a remote work trial, but we might request you to travel to NY or DC to meet the team.
- We are keen to work with the final candidate(s) to ensure they are able to complete a work trial, and aim to be flexible and accommodating. Please reach out if you are interested in applying but think you’d be unable to complete a work trial.
